Transfer Students

Important Information for Transfer Students

  • Completed application including essay due December 1 (for Spring semester)* and April 1 (for Fall semester)
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended
  • A cumulative college grade point average of 3.0 (B) or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Statement of Reasons for Transferring
  • Recommendation from a College Instructor—students may request permission from a Sewanee admission counselor to submit a high school teacher recommendation or guidance counselor recommendation in lieu of a recommendation from a college instructor. This is typically done for students whose classes number in excess of 100 students or who have been out of school for several semesters.
  • Statement of Good Standing—your Dean or Registrar should verify in writing that you are in good standing with your current institution. Any probations should be explained.
  • Official final high school transcript and SAT or ACT scores.
  • Application fee (waived if apply online via the Common Application)
  • While an interview is not required, it is strongly recommended. We encourage you to take every opportunity to learn more about the University.

* Due to the fact that all available funds are allocated to students who matriculate in the fall, funds are not always available for students entering in January. If you would like to be considered for financial aid, please contact the Financial Aid Office at (931) 598-1312.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Admission at (800) 522 2234 or via email at admiss@sewanee.edu
