Come to Visit

Campus Visits

At Sewanee: The University of the South we consider visiting campus to be one of the most important factors in your decision to apply and ultimately to join our academic community. We invite you to experience for yourself our unique and picturesque 13,000 acre campus.

Making the Most of Your Visit

Although summertime (May 2 - August 31) is a convenient time for high schoolers to visit campus, please know that many buildings, including our dorms and dining hall, may be closed and custom visit options are not available. We highly encourage students who make their first visit to campus during the summer to come back for a second visit during the academic year to have the opportunity to attend class and meet with current students.

We offer a variety of visit opportunities for campus visitors, including admission events and individual visits. A typical individual campus visit consists of a brief introduction to Sewanee led by a member of the Office of Admission counseling staff, followed by a student-led campus tour lasting about an hour. Following the tour, a staff member will spend some additional time with your group to discuss the Sewanee application and financial aid process.

For individual visits, we encourage students and their families to plan to spend a least half a day on campus in order to better take advantage of all that Sewanee has to offer you; admission events are daylong events.

For all sessions, we ask the your arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning to allow time to register unless your personalized confirmation packet instructs you otherwise.

Day of the Week Sessions begin at
Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 8:30 am & 2 pm
Tuesday & Thursday 9 am & 2 pm
Saturday Sessions * 10:30 am

* Saturday Sessions are only offered on select Saturdays during the academic year; Saturday tours do not show a dorm room. The Office of Admission does not offer tours or information sessions on Sundays.

It’s usually best to plan your visit at least 10 days in advance because space in our information sessions is sometimes limited. However, should you be unable to plan your visit that far in advance please know that we will do whatever we can to accommodate your visit request but cannot guarantee availability of all custom visit options.
